Filming Process

For my Vans commercial the filming process went quite easily. I am going to explain step by step how the filming process went. To begin with, I had to make sure the setting was right. This meaning the area and the weather. It was raining for most of the weekend so luckily on Sunday I was able to start my film. This was also important because I wanted the video to start of with a sunset. Although I wasn't able to capture the sunset I was still able to capture the beautiful setting of the sun that day. After that I was able to gather my clothing. I wore two sets of the clothing in the film. The first being a black & white hat, a plain white T-shirt, khaki shorts, and my black & white checkerboard Vans. The second being a red & white visor, the same plain white T-shirts, the same khaki shorts, and my red & white checkerboard Vans. The purpose of this is so that the audience can see right of the bat what is being advertised to them. In many commercials people are able to skip them within five seconds. So, I felt as if it was necessary to get right to the point in the beginning. Next, I got my skateboard. This was to represent the slogan of Vans which is "off the walls." Which is a skating term so I knew that having that in the film was essential. Then I stood on the skateboard showing my Vans so that the audience could see. Lastly, I did the best I could at doing the only trick I was able to learn how to do on a skateboard. Which is to lift the front side up then twist into a full 360 degree angle. I took two sets of these clips one in my black & white setting then the other in red & white setting.
