Genre Research: Horror
To begin with, this is my PowerPoint on the genre horror. This PowerPoint consists of all the aspects
needed to create a horror film. These include common lighting, common angles, common movements,
and common sound etc. As well as the elements, there are in total 4 elements of horror. Which are fear,
surprise, suspense, and spoilers. Each element benefits off each other. Fear, which is one of the most
important element is used to bring fear into the atmosphere of the audience. This is a crucial and liable
part of horror without fear there would be no horror. Surprise, which is a great way to bring presence of
the first element fear. This is used to get what is most common in horror films "jump scares." As the
audience is so scared and shocked they jump out of their chair in fear. Suspense, is used to grab the
audience's attention. This creates the audience to be very intrigued and interested and what going on in
the film. Making them want to know what's gonna happen next. Spoilers, or foreshadowing is used to
build up suspense in the audience. This allows for the audience to try and predict what might happen
next. In other words it grasps their attention by giving them an anticipation of what's next. I would say
that horror is one of my favorite genre's. I like feeling the excitement that it gives making the blood
rush through my body and having me on the edge of my seat.
