Title Research: Terrified

Image
During the opening sequence of this film, you see what almost looks like dark houses. This then leads into a graveyard. Where it looks like someone is in the ground awake. As what seems to be a dark figure walked over him. The man looks like he's tied up in the ground with dirt. As the water begins to fill up he's struggling. The camera then transitions onto a man sitting in a rocking chair outside. Looking at the dark figure hovering over the man in a ski mask. As the man in the ground looks up to the man with a ski mask on and says in fear "Who? Why?.'" The man with the ski mask says nothing besides "you know me, Joey." Assuming that the man getting buried alive name's is Joey. Joey then repeatedly screams out what I believe is the man with the ski mask on "LANCE LANCE." The scene then cuts into a fading picture of Joey's eye. Transitioning into the company that distributed the film "Crown International Pictures." The Crown ...

Title Research: Watch the Titles Websites

Image
The Watch the Titles Websites is the two out of two websites that I will be using for my title research. The website was launched in 2006. And just like Art of the Titles, their website is dedicated to help and highlight the designs of the title. Which basically breaks down how and why a specific title was created. Their websites hold over 200 title sequences to explore from. They have designers that are dedicated worldwide. Unlike the Art of the Title, this website has a section titles "student projects." Under this title, they showcase some of the work that their students have produced. Almost honoring or showing off on how their website has helped other students. So I believe I may gravitate to this website more.  URL - https://www.watchthetitles.com

Title Decision: Art of the Title Website

Image
The Art of the Title Website is one of the two websites I will be using for my titles research blogs. Ian Albinson is the founder of the website. Which he launched in 2007. Then a year later he was able to get his head writer Alexander Ulloa  The website was created to help and highlight the designs of the title. Which basically breaks down how and why a specific title was created. The website has a search engine where you can type a genre. Then films of that genre titles will pop up. I would the website is very user-friendly. And I can't wait to begin my research there.  URL - https://www.artofthetitle.com

Genre Research: Fantasy Island

Image
I have chosen three movies to begin researching. Each film is under the genre Horror. This is the genre I have decided to do my own film on. To begin with, The film Fantasy Island was published on February 14,2020. Which is consequently Valentine's day. This film was directed by Jeff Wadlow. Jeff Wadlow has directed other horror films such as Truth or Dare and Cry_Wolf. The movie is basically about a game show. Where contestants come into a "reality" where they live life in fantasy. But there is a trick to it. This is all given to them by the host who is played by Michale Pena. Michale Pena is seen in other horror films such as Love Object. There are a few elements that attract me to this move. Such as the jump scare. Through the movie, there is a lot of sudden actions and movements. Another thing I like about this film is the mysteries the contestants have to solve. During the day they get to live their best lives but at night they are given the task to solve the island...

The film is about children particularly seven that were by the clown. Who soon realized that every day on a particular day the clown did this to other kids. I like the fear that this movie hold in it. As there are many jump scares and sudden pop-ups. Something that I do not like about this movie is the way they ended it. The movie has won two Golden awards. The...

Genre Decision

Image
TODAY IS THE DAY! After a long consideration, I have chosen to do the genre Horror. I've asked family and friends to help me decide upon a genre. They each asked me to explain all the genres I could choose from. Then they would decide which one I sounded more comfortable explaining. After, I was finished each family and friend said that I sounded like I really knew. Almost, word for word what I was talking about in Horror. Before heading into this assignment I felt that I was going to do Horror anyways. So to hear other people tell me I sound the most comfortable with it. Made it even easier to select Horror as my genre. I'm glad that I've chosen horror as my genre as it's one of my favorite films to watch. As I stated in my PowerPoint. I like suspense that it makes you feel watching in the audience. This suspense goes into another thing I like about Horror films and that is being on the edge of my seat. The suspense makes you wanna know what's gonna happen next. Wh...

Genre Research: Drama and Thriller

Image
I have chosen to do Drama and Thriller for my second and third genre research. Drama -  To begin with, there are many different components to creating what is known as Drama. Drama is otherwise known as a "roller coaster." This is because you go through an unexpected series of events that could be exciting or emotional. There are several different lightings in Drama such as lowkey, side, hard, and cinematic lighting. Also, angles: medium, over-the-shoulder, close-up, and extreme close-up. The common movements that are seen in Drama films are hand-held, horizontal, and vertical. There are 3 components to create the mis-en-scene in Drama. These are costumes, props, and settings. There is normal clothing in Drama to make the scene look as realistic as possible. Props can include cars, cellphones, houses, or food. The usual settings of  Drama are made to look realistic to portray real-life situations.  Thriller - Just like Drama, there are many different components to cr...

Genre Research: Horror

Image
To begin with, this is my PowerPoint on the genre horror. This PowerPoint consists of all the aspects  needed to create a horror film. These include common lighting, common angles, common movements, and common sound etc. As well as the elements, there are in total 4 elements of horror. Which are fear, surprise, suspense, and spoilers. Each element benefits off each other. Fear, which is one of the most important element is used to bring fear into the atmosphere of the audience. This is a crucial and liable part of horror without fear there would be no horror. Surprise, which is a great way to bring presence of the first element fear. This is used to get what is most common in horror films "jump scares." As the audience is so scared and shocked they jump out of their chair in fear. Suspense, is used to grab the audience's attention. This creates the audience to be very intrigued and interested and what going on in the film. Making them want to know what's gonna happen ...

My Pitch

Image
To begin with, today marks the day that I start jotting down pitches to present. I thought this would be the easiest step of this project. As it allows for lots of creativity and imagination to flow through your head. I was wrong this part was extremely hard for me to come up with. I asked friends , friends of friends, and family for ideas and still winded up with nothing. Which left me with more stress on my plate knowing that this is one the more crucial parts of the project. Without pitches there is no foundations I cannot continue on with the project without them. Though I did seem to find an attraction to one of my pitches that dealt with interracial couples. I felt that if I was able to get a pitch with this  topic there was so many surrounding topics I could dwell into. With that being said my first pitch is "  Interracial couple sticks together and dominates the odds of society." I believe this would be an  interesting topic as even to this day many interracial co...

Starting the Final Task

Hi, my name is Nicholas Smith I am in 11th grade I attend Fort Lauderdale High School  located on 1600 NE 4th Ave in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I decided to take the AICE Media  Studies course as I needed to get an AICE credit in order to receive my AICE diploma. Also, I  knew that Ms. Katz & Mr. Katz would be teaching this course and I've had the experience to  have them as teachers separately in the past so I knew them together would be a great  choice. In  their own way, they are both smart & intelligent individuals and I like their strategic  plans on  teaching. Now about me, I was born on May 26, 2004, I was born and raised in Fort  Lauderdale the first school I attended was Fort Lauderdale Prep. That was until my "lovely"  sister was born 6 years later. She was born on February 17, 2010, when my sister was born  my parents made a big decision to move to Sunrise, Fl. The change was hard I missed my...
